The New Classic
This residential extension project reimagines a traditional British home, enhancing its functionality, accessibility, and overall comfort. The design introduces a bright and modern open-plan living space, while seamlessly integrating a rear extension, internal reconfiguration, and a new front driveway. The result is a cohesive architectural solution that thoughtfully responds to both contemporary lifestyle and specialised care requirements.
The scope of the project included the design and construction of a single-storey rear extension with front and rear access, improving flow and circulation. Internally, the home was adapted to include a ground floor bedroom, a level-access shower room, and a dedicated carer’s area, supporting accessible home design and independent living.
A key feature of the design is the extended open-plan living space, which opens directly onto the garden, creating a strong indoor-outdoor connection ideal for both daily living and entertaining. This fluid transition from inside to outside is further enhanced by the outdoor pool.
Externally, a new front driveway was also added, improving off-street parking and property accessibility.
Throughout the design, attention was given to natural light, spatial efficiency, and architectural cohesion, resulting in a home that balances traditional character with modern functionality and outdoor living.
