The Timber Box
This ambitious extension reimagines a family home as a space for play, comfort, and long-term adaptability. At the heart of the project is its most defining and unexpected feature: a full-height indoor trampoline room, bringing a sense of energy and individuality to the design.
The extension is accompanied by extensive internal alterations. The ground floor has been opened up to create a spacious, light-filled open-plan kitchen and living area. The entrance has been reconfigured to improve flow and create a more welcoming threshold, while a new ground floor bedroom and bathroom ensure the home is accessible and future-proofed.
Externally, a large tiled terrace provides a durable and elegant outdoor living space, with a gently ramping access route making the property fully wheelchair accessible.
The extension itself is clad in timber, giving it a subtle, contemporary character that complements the form and contrasts softly with the original house. This tactile material choice helps ground the new addition in its residential context while lending it a warm and natural aesthetic.
The project also includes a new air source heat pump system, along with a comprehensive upgrade to the existing insulation, enhancing the home’s energy efficiency and aligning with low-carbon design principles.
This is a project where joy, functionality, and sustainability meet—creating a home that’s as practical as it is playful.
