Michael Barker BSc MRICS is a Chartered Building Surveyor at Grumitt Wade Mason. Michael joined Grumitt Wade Mason in 2012. After becoming Chartered in 2017, Michael has progressed within the firm and took a Directors role in January 2023.
Building a career
Michael graduated from Brighton University with a degree in Building Surveying. Since graduating Michael has gained experience in a variety of areas. He has a wide client base including; Local Authorities, Managing Agents, Private Clients and Solicitors.
No day is the same for Michael, as he is often involved in many different aspects of the business. His roles include; carrying out Contract Administration for refurbishment and block maintenance, diagnosing defects, providing architectural services and assisting disabled clients with adaptations from conception through to completion.
Constructing better lives
Michael loves the human interaction of working with clients, and finds the work he does on disability projects very rewarding – helping to change people’s lives for the better.
Michael specialises in the full delivery of residential and adaptation projects across the South of England, with a particular focus on contract administration and the on-site construction phase. Working closely with clients, contractors, and occupational therapists, he ensures that every project, whether a home extension, refurbishment, or accessibility adaptation, is delivered to specification, on time, and to the highest standard. His hands-on involvement from design through to completion makes him a key point of contact for clients navigating complex building projects.
An energetic approach
Michael enjoys time away from the office with his wife and two children. As well as family time, Michael is a keen sportsman and is a member of a local running club and golf club.
